WWE Backlash 2026 is the twenty first version of this event – it occurs live on May 9 at the Benchmark International Arena which is in Tampa, Florida. For the main match, Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu. Other performers include Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins, Trick Williams besides Becky Lynch.
As for the schedule, the main card starts at 6:00 PM ET or 3:00 PM PT on May 9. In other regions this is 11:00 PM BST, 12:00 AM CEST, 3:30 AM IST on May 10 and 8:00 AM AEST on May 10. On May 9, IYO SKY besides Asuka are opponents at the WWE Backlash event – this match is a result of Asuka ending her alliance with IYO SKY in September. Tensions are higher because IYO SKY or Rhea Ripley, who is the WWE Women’s Champion, defeated the team of Asuka & Kairi Sane after the WrestleMania event. As a response to this loss, Asuka interfered in a match between IYO SKY next to Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title. By attacking IYO SKY with force, Asuka caused her to lose that opportunity.
Asuka has held Women’s Championships on the main roster four times and won both the Royal Rumble and the Money in the Bank ladder match. She held the NXT Women’s Title for more than 500 days, which is a record duration. In this match she seeks to defeat IYO SKY, who has won the Women’s Championship twice and was the 2023 Money in the Bank winner. For viewers in the US, the match is live at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan – but for international viewers, the event is available on Netflix.
