After a year-long delay, Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in New York on Saturday. Originally scheduled for October 2023 at UFC 295, the bout was postponed due to Jones suffering a pectoral injury. This marks Jones’ first fight since capturing the heavyweight belt from Ciryl Gane via a dominant first-round guillotine submission at UFC 285 in March 2023.

For Miocic, the wait has been even longer, as he hasn’t fought since losing the heavyweight title to Francis Ngannou at UFC 260 in March 2021. The highly anticipated clash pits two of the division’s greatest fighters against each other, promising a memorable showdown in Madison Square Garden.

The event also features the return of Michael Chandler, who steps into the Octagon for the first time in two years. Chandler will face former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira in a compelling match-up on the stacked card. Fans worldwide can catch the action live by following the UFC 309 broadcast.

For fans in the UK, the main card airs on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 a.m. GMT. The prelims start at 1 a.m. GMT, with early prelims beginning on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11 p.m. GMT.

How to watch UFC 309: Jones vs. Miocic

The UFC’s partnership with ESPN has helped grow MMA but limits options for U.S. fans. UFC 309 is available exclusively on pay-per-view via ESPN Plus, with varying costs: existing ESPN Plus annual subscribers can access it for $80, while new subscribers can get a bundle of the event and an annual ESPN Plus subscription for $135. The subscription renews annually at the current price unless canceled.

In the UK, fans can watch UFC 309 via TNT Sports, but unlike some previous events, this one is also pay-per-view. The full card is priced at £20, providing live coverage of the fights. While these partnerships expand the sport’s reach, they pose challenges for consumer affordability and accessibility.
