New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s New Beginning takes place on February 11 at Osaka’s packed EDION Arena, featuring major title clashes and intense rivalries. The main event sees Hirooki Goto challenge Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
For Goto, this match is deeply personal—exactly nine years ago in the same arena, he suffered a crushing title defeat to Kazuchika Okada. Despite numerous attempts since 2007, Goto has never won the IWGP title, making this his ninth shot at the top prize. Though he earned his spot by surviving the Wrestle Kingdom 19 Ranbo, he remains the underdog against Sabre.
