Hirooki Goto, the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, has solidified his reputation as a fighting champion with multiple successful defenses, including against Zack Sabre Jr., the man he originally defeated for the title. Their rematch at Resurgence 2025 ended in a controversial double pinfall draw, setting the stage for a decisive third encounter on June 29 at Tanahashi Jam. Meanwhile, El Phantasmo and Shota Umino—both set to compete in B Block of the G1—will get an early look at their tournament opponent, ZSJ, who will be backed by TMDK’s powerhouse duo, Hartley Jackson and Ryohei Oiwa.
Gabe Kidd achieved a career-defining victory at Dominion, defeating Yota Tsuji to claim the Global Heavyweight Championship and positioning himself as a potential new face of NJPW. Seeking validation from a legend, Kidd immediately challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi, leading to their first confrontation at this event. Backed by Drilla Moloney and Gedo, Kidd will face a formidable Hontai trio, including Tiger Mask and newly crowned IWGP Tag Team Champions Tomohiro Ishii, who won the titles alongside Taichi at Dominion.
