The G1 Climax 35 league phase has concluded, and on August 14 in Korakuen Hall, the second- and third-place finishers from opposite blocks will face off, with the winners advancing to the semifinals against A Block winner EVIL and B Block winner SANADA in Ariake. This sets the stage for Sunday’s grand final.
One of the spotlight matches is Yota Tsuji vs. Shota Umino — their first singles bout in over two years. Once fellow Young Lions, Umino generally bested Tsuji early on, but during their UK excursions, Tsuji aligned with Gideon Grey’s Legion, earning his first win over Umino and shifting their rivalry dynamics. In the 2023 G1, Tsuji again defeated Umino amid their shared branding with Ren Narita as the “Reiwa Three Musketeers.”
Over time, their relationship evolved, with Tsuji even encouraging Umino during his struggles earlier in 2025. Umino’s “Second Chapter” resurgence saw him finish second in B Block with a 6-3 record, while Tsuji’s 5-4 in A Block was just enough to qualify. Tonight’s winner will face EVIL — a bitter point for both: Umino’s 2024 “new Ace” proclamation was crushed by EVIL, and Tsuji holds a losing record against him this year. A passionate Korakuen crowd will witness which man earns the right to advance.
