NJPW Death Pain Invitational Live, June 24th, 2025, Watch-Wrestling FHD stream

Last June, the Despe Invitacional, organized by El Desperado, delivered one of the most chaotic wrestling events of 2024. A year later, Desperado returned to Korakuen Hall with the support of NJPW and FREEDOMS, this time to settle his long-running rivalry with Jun Kasai in an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match. This bout marked a significant moment, as it combined Desperado’s title reign with Kasai’s hardcore wrestling expertise, promising an unprecedented level of violence.

Throughout 2024, El Desperado’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship reign showcased the division’s diversity, featuring high-flying lucha libre against Templario, technical battles with Kosei Fujita and Francesco Akira, and brutal hardcore clashes with Clark Connors. However, his match against Kasai represented a new extreme, pushing the boundaries of bloodshed in junior heavyweight wrestling. Their rivalry dates back to 2019, when a no-contest result left Desperado with a broken jaw, forcing him out of that year’s Best of the Super Jr. tournament. They finally met one-on-one in 2022, with Desperado winning, but Kasai remained the undisputed king of deathmatch wrestling—a realm Desperado had begun exploring.

Kasai taught Desperado that deathmatch wrestling was about embracing life rather than destruction, leading to occasional team-ups in 2023. However, 2024 reignited their feud, with Kasai defeating Desperado in a brutal glassboard and light tube tag match in March, then again in a three-way in FREEDOMS two months later. Determined to prove himself, Desperado challenged Kasai to a final singles match, putting his IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on the line under hardcore stipulations—light tubes, glass boards, and more. For Kasai, this was more than a title opportunity; it was a chance to assert dominance over his domain and potentially expand it into junior heavyweight wrestling. The question remained: would Kasai conquer Desperado’s world, or would the masked champion finally overcome the “Crazy Monkey” in his own brutal game?
